Event Start Date : 30/01/2021 Event End Date 30/01/2021
Martyr’s Day was observed at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar with reverence to
mark the death anniversary of the father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. On
the unfortunate day of January 30, in the year 1948, Gandhi ji was assassinated by Nathuram
Godse. Lovingly called Bapu, Mahatma Gandhi played a prominent role in India’s struggle for
Independence. The teachers paid homage to the father of the nation by singing a patriotic
song and by enlightening the students about the sacrifices made by this great leader. At 11
AM the whole school observed silence for one minute as a remembrance to the martyred
soul. The students pledged to imbibe in themselves the virtues of truth and non-violence.
