Mahatma Hansrajs Punya Tithi and Children’s Day Celebrated with reverence at DAV

On the occasion of the Death Anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj ji children paid homage to an educationist
par excellence, Mahatma Hansraj. An ardent follower of the Arya Samaj , he was also a compatriot of the
freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai. He served as a Principal of DAV College for 25 years and committed the
rest of his life in social service.
Excerpts from the life of this illustrious son of Mother India were read out and teachers emphasised on
imbibing the values propagated by him.
On the auspicious occasion of Children’s Day the teachers presented a special assembly and showcased a
‘Nukkad Natak’ accentuating the need to follow the ideals set by our first Prime Minister of Independent
India, Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru . The children were made to realise that how deterioration in value system
can lead to disastrous consequences.
Fun rides, puppet shows and games were organised to make this day memorable for the children of the
Cantt Branch.
