B.B.C Channel organised a one – day Digital Literacy Workshop on the topic ‘Beyond Fake
News’ at DAV. Public School , Amritsar to spread awareness among the students to tackle fake
news and being judicious in accepting such news. The students were informed about the ways to
differentiate a fake news from an authentic one . After the workshop the school was invited to
prepare a stage performance on the same theme which was presented at Guru Nanak Dev
University, Amritsar . 20 students of the school, Vibhuti Devgan (XII) , Shamita Sethi ( XII) ,
Khushi Arora ( XII) , Nitya Sehgal ( XI) , Kanishka Chopra (XI) , Sparsh (XI) , Shreshth
Malhotra ( XI) , Ravbir (XI) , Tusheen ( XII) , Vidhisha (X), Vanshika (X), Sukhraj Singh (XI),
Prabhdeep (X), Ishita Shoor (IX), Aedha (VIII) , Himang (VIII) , Raveesh (VIII), Shranay
(VIII) and Tanvi (VIII) participated in it. The street play prepared by the school was telecast live
on Facebook and Brunei Hall London. A panel discussion on the same was also held after the
presentation wherein an answer given by Hemang of Std VIII from the school impressed the
panellists so much that his answer has been selected for World TV Telecast. The judges were all
praise for the wide knowledge and exposure of the students and awarded them with Bluetooth
speakers and certificates. The teachers , Mrs.Poonam Mehta and Ms. Shama Sharma, Supervisor
Co – curricular activities were also honoured on this occasion.
