The students of DAV Public School , Lawrence Road, Amritsar conducted a special
assembly on World AIDS Day to Create awareness about the disease. The students
explained how the killer virus plays havoc with the immune system and takes the patients
to the threshold of death. They also urged that patients suffering from the disease must not
be victimised and discriminated against in the society. The children also explained how
this disease spreads and what preventive measures should be taken .

They recited poems and enacted a short role play on the same topic. The red ribbon, which
is a symbol of solidarity and a commitment to the fight against HIV, was worn by all –
students , teaching and non – teaching staff.
